Be Forward Wanderers have defeated Zimbabwe premier league side Chicken Inn by a goal to 0 in a first match of the Nyasa Big 4 bonanza played on Friday afternoon.
The match which saw Wanderers giving their new signing Adeboye Babatunde his debut, saw both sides missing chances with the visiting team a clear chance in the 27th minute with Wanderers goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa to the team’s rescue.
Wanderers came a changed side in the second half as they attacked Chicken Inn from all angles and this was rewarded in the 55th Minute when Mike Kaziputa scored the lone goal for the match.
The Zimbabwean side made a number of changes which payed dividence as they presualised Wanderers but failed to convert into goals the chances they created.
After the game team manager for Wanderers Steve Madeira was delighted with the win.
” Am happy with today’s performance as well as the result as we featured mostly players we have promoted from our reserve side and those who didn’t have much game time last season but their performance has proved to us they want to fight for a place in the team “, Madeira said.
On the other hand Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said all is not lost.
” We had a good game today and am not much concerned with the result that we have lost the match as this was our first competitive game this year and we are using this tournament to give shape to our players”.
