The Football Association of Malawi has set 30 March as the date to kick off the 2019 soccer season with the Chifundo Charity Shield.
FAM’s Commercial and Marketing Manager Limbani Matola said the tournament which will be played for 2 days will involve 4 teams that won the top trophies in 2018.
Matola further said “the Charity Shield will be played in Blantyre at the Kamuzu stadium on 30 and 31 March and we have chosen the southern region to give fans in the region a feel of the tournament as the past 2 editions were held in the central region”.
Nyasa Big Bullets, who won the TNM Super League, FISD Challenge Cup winners Be Forward Wanderers, Airtel top 8 champions Blue Eagles and Catarrh cup winners Masters Security FC are the teams to play in the tournament.
Chifundo Charity Shield was started by FAM with an aim of raising money to help the needy and the proceeds of last year’s edition Which was won by Nyasa Big Bullets went to Kachere Rehabilitation centre.
