The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has released their calendar of events for the year 2019.
The calendar which is to run up until 29 December, has seen 6th April 2019 as the set date for the kick off of the TNM Super League as well as the regional leagues, with the Super league to end on 21st December. From 28 July to 17 August, teams will have to break as the first round of the league will have ended.
FAM’s competition and communication director Gomezgani Zakazaka said the calendar has been released after all the stakeholders were consulted to avoid clash of fixtures. “We had a smooth meeting with all the necessary stakeholders such as Super League of Malawi (SULOM) and we hope the released calendar will be followed and will help us in the smooth running of the league and for us to prepare well for our national team engagements.
“If there will be any hick ups in the case were we need to revise the dates for the set fixtures, all stakeholders will be communicated to in good time”, Zakazaka said.
The releases calendar has also revealed the 13th -14th April as the starting dates for the Airtel Top 8 cup which is to run up until 29th June and the Carlsberg cup to start on 7th May with the regional phase and it’s final to be played on 5th October.
The FISD Challenge Cup will roll out on 31st August and end on 15 December while the Malawi National football team, the Flames, to start it’s duties with a match against Morocco on 23 March.
